Butler Mansion - 672 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY

Please use #DeamyerLee2015 when posting to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Please be careful not to confuse the Butler Mansion with the Mansion on Delaware. The Butler is located across from Walgreen's on Delaware Avenue at North Street and is also called the Jacobs Executive Development Center. The building is surrounded by trees and bushes. Access to the parking lot is off of North Street across from the Lennox Hotel.

Holiday Inn, 620 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14202 - (716) 886-2121 are $179 for 2 Queen Beds and $149 for a King Bed.

Best Western on the Avenue, 510 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14202 - (716) 259-1174 http://www.buffalobestwestern.net/

Booking.com - The Holiday Inn is currently less expensive on the website than what the hotel price is that they gave me. I have personally used this site many times without any problems. This is how we booked our room.

Please be sure to book early as it is a holiday weekend.

We know it;s not traditional,
It's not the way it's done,
Instead of a wedding list,
We'd like a bit of sun.

We've lived together a while,
And all the bills are paid.
We've got our plates; our pots and pans,
Our plans have all been made.

So if you'd like to give a gift,
To help us celebrate,
Something towards our "honeyfund,"
We would appreciate!

BUILT: 1896-1899 Lake Erie was visible from the house.

SIZE: 16,000 square feet in the main house and an additional 8,000 square feet in the carriage house.

ARCHITECTS: Stanford White (McKim, Mead and White). One of the last houses Stanford White built before he was assassinated by jealous Harry K. Thaw. Stanford White's first contribution to Buffalo architecture was as associate architect to H.H. Richardson when he designed the Buffalo State Hospital in 1870. White's second Buffalo work involved the James F. Metcalfe House, designed three years after White had joined McKim and Mead to form their avant-garde architectural firm.

OWNERS: George L. Williams and his wife Annie built this house on the Delaware-North location, the most prestigious corner in the city. His brother, Charles, built the house next door (the Williams-Pratt House /LiRo Group Building). "They [George and Charles] were sons of Gibson T. Williams, a banker and industrialist. They once owned what was reputedly the largest tannery in the United States in Salamanca but sold it and concentrated on investing." - Buffalo's Delaware Avenue: Mansions and Families, by Edward T. Dunn. Pub. by Canisius College Press, 2003 Williams, a successful banker with the Erie County Savings Bank, promoted the Pan-American Exposition. On the day that President McKinley was scheduled to have a brilliant state dinner hosted by George and his wife, Annie, at the home, he was assassinated. Because of rainy weather and other factors, the Exposition lost money. Before the sheriff could seize the cash at the Exposition, Williams had the money removed and brought to his home, and the initial bond holders (his friends and business acquaintances) were paid off.
